The market for scent diffusers and atomizers is incredibly saturated. It’s filled with products that look alike - faux wood, foggy clear plastic and RGB lighting. Through further research, I discovered that the essential oils used for these products can positively affect a person’s wakefulness. I saw this as an opportunity to direct the purpose of the product to sleep aromatherapy.

The purpose of Sense is to create a zen space and help the user achieve better sleep. The aroma diffusers on the market look organic with bright colors. I wanted my new competitor to have the opposite aesthetic. It fits the functional purpose and would stand out from the crowd.

I decided to keep the physical product as simple as possible and integrate smart functions into a complimentary app. I wanted to align the digital design with the physical product so it felt like a cohesive user experience.
